DAY ONE

Get a Bird’s Eye View

Start your time in Wellington with a scenic helicopter tour over the city and rugged south coast. Conclude your flight with an incredible lunch prepared by your own personal chef at the exclusive Boomrock Lodge or award-winning Wharekauhau Country Estate.

Get Adventurous

After lunch, it’s time for some adventure. Perched on a cliff 750 feet above the Tasman Sea and surrounded by 1600 acres of farmland, Boomrock Lodge offers activities ranging from archery and clay bird shooting to tackling the lodge’s purpose-built track in a high-performance car or flying a helicopter under the guidance of a professional pilot. Alternatively, Wharekauhau Country Estate provides opportunities for mountain biking, farm tours and excursions to Cape Palliser Seal Colony to see fur seals.

Fine Dining

Transfer back for dinner at one of Wellington's wonderful restaurants such as Bellamys by Logan Brown in the Beehive at the New Zealand Parliament buildings. You might even spot some Kiwi politicians!

Day 2

Foodie Heaven

Start the day with Wellington’s renowned foodie experts by learning the art of making a perfect flat white at Flight Coffee. Then tempt your taste buds with an artisan food tour with a local chef. Enjoy tastes of local peanut butter at the Fix and Fogg window, a tour and tasting at Wellington Chocolate factory or a Salted Caramel Cookie from Leeds Street Bakery. Get hands-on in a class with one of Wellington’s top food producers: dumpling making with Vicky Ha of House of Dumplings; beer and food matching at Fortune Favours, or a cheese-making workshop with C’est Cheese.

A Blockbuster Tour

Discover the movie magic behind ‘Wellywood’ at Weta Workshops, the renowned film special effects and design facility. A Weta Workshop Tour explores the creative costumes, props and worlds behind films like The Lord of the Rings. Or engage in a customised hands-on workshop with Weta artists, creating your own leather work or chainmail or helping to create a fantastical 3D character.

Wining, dining and wildlife

Shortly before sunset, take the 10-minute trip to the Zealandia wildlife sanctuary for a night-time tour. You might be lucky enough to spot native kiwi foraging on the forest floor, tuatara hunting for food, or glow worms shining. Return to Wellington for dinner at one of the city’s hot spots.

Savour Wairarapa's Wines

Enjoy the scenic train ride from Wellington to the nearby Wairarapa wine region, famous for its boutique wineries. Meet the vintners and sample some of the world’s best wines as you make your way around some of the 24 wineries surrounding the settlement of Martinborough. Have a leisurely lunch at a vineyard restaurant before heading back to Wellington.

Discover National Treasures

Immerse yourself in New Zealand’s history and culture at the iconic Museum of New Zealand — Te Papa Tongarewa. Embark on a guided tour of the art gallery, then go behind the scenes into the archives to see even more nationally and internationally significant artwork.

After the tour, sip pre-dinner cocktails with stunning views over Wellington Harbour before sitting down to an atmospheric dinner at Te Papa’s contemporary Māori marae, followed by cultural performances.
